Guardians of Guitar is presenting the third in a series of interviews Lisa S. Johnson filmed about the creation of her new photography book Mortal + Immortal Guitars—which is set for a fall 2020 release. Here, Johnson and Lonn Friend talk with Billy Sherwood of the band Yes.
“It was cool to sit with Billy at NAMM 2019, after initially meeting him onboard the 2015 Yes Cruise to the Edge ocean liner,” says Johnson. “We chatted about his friendship with Chris Squire, and how he came to fill Chris’ shoes in Yes, because Chris wanted the band to continue to ‘thrive and survive.’ Billy also talked about his choice of Spector basses rather than the Rickenbackers that drove the ‘Chris Squire tone,’ as well as what it’s like playing with Steve Howe.”
Hey Guardians,
Very cool to see you include a bass player interview with this Billy Sherwood piece. Always been a Chris Squire fan and its great that Billy has been able to step in/step up and help keep Yes alive.
